IE8 to Get "Private Browsing?"

Private browsing means browsing the web without leaving "tracks," such as cookies, history, cache data, etc., etc. This has been popularly called "porn mode." Only Safari currently supports this feature; it was pulled from Firefox 3 (there is, however, an add-on called Stealther some use).

Firefox 3 "Download Day" Pledges Pass 1M; Release Gets Dated

You'll recall that the Mozilla Foundation is trying to set a Guiness World Record: the most downloads of software in the first 24 hours of its release. But we had no release date and we received an RC3 on Wednesday.

Final Firefox 3 and 3.1 Get (Roughly) Dated

Mozilla has announced a rough date for final release of Firefox 3 as well as a date-driven release schedule for Firefox 3.1.

Firefox 3 is now slated for "sometime in June," while Firefox 3.1 is scheduled for the end of the year.

Apple Stops Pushing Safari (So Hard) Via iTunes Update

I previously wrote about how Apple was using iTunes Update to push Safari onto PCs. It was listing Safari as an update even if Safari wasn't on the computer originally. Humorously, since then stories have emerged about IT departments having to scramble to remove Safari as the default browser on PCs as it (naturally) wouldn't work with many Intranet sites.

Sure enough, there is, but not on every router. Hop into your router management system (either through a program you installed when you set up your router initially or by typing the IP address of the router into your web browser), and poke around.
